Line Buster
An application for staff to scan the items of customers waiting in line on an Android device. At the checkout, the cashier loads the list into the sale with one action, without scanning each item again.
What problem it solves
At peak hours, lines grow because every basket is scanned item by item at the checkout. Opening more checkouts is not always possible, and customers walk away. Line Buster moves the scanning to the line, so that only the payment is left for the checkout.
What it does
- Scanning in the line
- A staff member walks the line with an Android phone or device and scans each customer's basket with the camera or the scanner.
- One action at the checkout
- The cashier retrieves the list with the customer's ID document and the items enter the open sale.
- QR code as a backup
- If the list can't be retrieved by ID, the device shows it as a QR code that the checkout reads. It can also be printed on a portable printer.
- The same sale as always
- The checkout calculates prices, promotions and taxes as in any other sale, and the customer pays the cashier. Nothing changes in the operation or on the invoice.
- Weighed items
- Items with a scale label are scanned in the line; those without one are marked to be weighed at the checkout.
- Diagnostics on the device
- The application shows the state of the connection and the device, and its setup is protected from daily use.
How it fits
Line Buster connects with the store's POS system: the list enters the checkout as if the cashier had scanned every item. Label formats and ID documents are configured for each chain.
